Scott Heald is a Chief Officer and Head of Profession for Statistics in Public Health Scotland. Scott is a graduate of University of Edinburgh, having studied Mathematics & Statistics there in the early 1990s.
Public Health Scotland is a new body, created in April 2020, with a vision to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of all Scotland's people. Our focus is on increasing healthy life expectancy and reducing premature mortality. Supporting Scotland's COVID response is currently at the forefront of Public Health Scotland's work. Public Health Scotland is one of the biggest employers of people with a passion for data and statistics, with over 100 data managers and 350 analysts/statisticians working on a wide range of public health topics. Scott will showcase the range of work undertaken by our analytical teams and talk about career opportunities, how to get the best out of an application to Public Health Scotland, and what to expect at interview.
And he'll pose a few questions to get you thinking - for example, "how heavy was Scotland's heaviest baby?"........

Merkle Analytics talks about what they do and what their work is like, as well as steering you through a case study to provide a real insight. One of their representatives, Shane, is an Edinburgh graduate and he will be sharing his experience and offering some tips.
Merkle Analytics is a data analytics and technology consultancy that specialises in cutting-edge, commercially focussed outcomes.
