Academic Cohort Leads

What We Do

You will be assigned an Academic Cohort Lead (ACL) who will stay with you throughout your time at university and offer support and advice about your particular programme.

We can help you make appropriate course choices to tailor your degree programme to your aspirations or intended career. We will also facilitate group-based welcome and transition activities.

What We Can Help With

We are a key part of the Student Support ecosystem in the School of Mathematics and take the lead on the following areas:

  • Welcome, induction and transition
  • Community building
  • Academic support

We will assist you with questions relating to Mathematics and your studies, as well offering academic advice about your further academic journey and your career aspriations. We will also help build a community within your cohort and the wider school by facilitating social events and networking opportunities.

If we are not available, please contact the School of Maths Student Support team: StudentSupport@maths.ed.ac.uk.

Meeting your Academic Cohort Lead

You will have a number of events scheduled throughout the academic year which we will facilitate. This can range from social events, such as pizza nights, to skills-focussed seminars.
