Teaching-related committees

What makes up the Mathematics Board of Studies and course approval.

All committees usually deal with both the undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses

  • The School Teaching Committee  is responsible for strategic planning and policy development for the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
  • The Teaching Programmes Committee develops policy on the delivery of taught courses and monitors activity within those courses.

  • The Student Staff Liaison Committees  oversee the student experience in the School’s taught programmes and courses.

  • The Board of Studies  gives academic approval at the School level for changes in programmes and non-trivial changes to courses.

The Mathematics Board of Studies is constituted by:

  • all permanent academic staff

  • Course Organisers

  • MTO Administrator

  • Student Representatives

  • Representatives from all the Schools who are on combined degree programmes.

Course approval

Programme and course approval/amendment documents should be circulated at least four working days prior to meetings to ensure that proposals are given proper consideration: they are to be with the Board of Studies Administrator five working days before the Board of Studies meeting. Proposals are to be approved by the School's Teaching Programmes Committee before submission.  Please also read the University's Programme and Course Approval and Management  policy, which includes timescales (page 8).
