Introduction

Key dates and structure of the programme.

Programme structure

  • Part 1 covers the core skills of Statistics & Operational Research. The majority of the core courses are in Semester 1.
  • Part 2 gives students the opportunity to tailor their degree to their own future objectives by selecting from a range of optional courses. These are taught mainly in Semester 2. Parts 1 and 2 are taken by both Diploma and MSc students.
  • Part 3 is for the MSc only. It begins in June and comprises three months of project work on which students base their dissertations.

Course delivery 

Parts 1 and 2 consists of taught courses, and a total of 120 points of taught courses must be taken. These are classified as core or optional. All core courses are compulsory. The MSc dissertations will normally involve statistical computing in R.
