Academic Cohort Leads (ACLs)

What We Do

You will be assigned an Academic Cohort Lead (ACL) who will stay with you throughout your time at university. 

Your Academic Cohort Lead will assist you with questions relating to Mathematics and your studies, as well offering academic advice about your further academic journey and your career aspriations. They will also help build a community within your cohort and the wider school by facilitating social events and networking opportunities.

We are a key part of the Student Support ecosystem in the School of Mathematics and take the lead on the following areas:

  • Welcome, induction and transition
  • Community building
  • Academic support

Meeting your Academic Cohort Lead

You will meet your Academic Cohort Lead in Welcome Week, and will have a number of events scheduled throughout the academic year which your Academic Cohort Lead will facilitate. This can range from social events, such as pizza nights, to skills-focussed seminars.
